by April Kerr

We all know the dangers of smoking and most people want to stop but just can’t. They might find that even though they can get all kinds of diseases, they just can’t seem to quit. This is because it is very addictive, but here are a few ways that you can stop smoking if you want to get healthy again.

The first thing you can do to stop smoking is to search for something like a nicotine patch or nicotine gum. Now, while this is preventing you from lighting up, it also contains nicotine. It is in small doses however and safer than inhaling the cigarette fumes which can reach the brain in about 6 to 8 seconds. The nicotine in a patch or gum will not affect the brain as much or as fast. This is because it is absorbed into the blood stream through your skin or saliva.

With the nicotine gum and patches you can easily stop smoking and they help to take the edge off. This is necessary when you have a job to do and you cannot afford to be irritable and feel terrible. These products can however also cause problems, as there have been cases where people become addicted to them instead.

Another way to stop smoking is to go cold turkey. Many people use this method, especially if they smoke more as a habit and less because they are addicted. They can choose to stop and will simple not purchase cigarettes any longer. They might experience some forms of withdrawal, but generally these people just find something else to occupy their time.

Another way to cure smoking for good is to go to a hypnotherapist. These people are often seen as frauds, but many cigarette smokers actually admit that going under hypnosis cured them. They no longer feel the cravings that they used to and to them smoking is actually not nice any more. This is because the treatments are done in such a way to trick the brain into responding to smoking in a different way.

There are some other methods, but these are the best ones. They can be used as often as you need to and most of the time you will only need them once. When you find the method that works for you the best you should not give up. Keep trying and you will soon notice how energetic you feel. You will also prevent getting certain cancers and other illnesses like emphysema.

If you feel that they are unfair and rude it will only make you want to smoke again. So, do not pay it much attention, and if it is bothering you that much, leave the room, that is what every other non-smoker will do.

Break Your Smoking Habit, For Good! Then, when you are smoking free, Clear Your Lungs Of Tar And Toxins From Years Of Smoking. Research reveals that there Is a Tested and Proven Program You follow. It Is Also An Extremely Effective Way To Stop Smoking As It Quickly Gets Rid Of Cravings!

Top Five Methods to Quit Smoking Cigarettes–Traditional and Non-Traditional

Smoking cigarettes puts you at a greater risk for heart and lung diseases. It becomes all the more hurtful when it also adversely affects the health of the people around you, especially family and loved ones.

Unfortunately, smoking is addictive and many people who smoke their first cigarette get hooked for a lifetime. It is not impossible to quit smoking cigarettes, however. You can effectively quit smoking with the help of these five methods.

Self-Discipline

The sincerity to stop smoking is a determining factor in anyone’s fight over cigarette addiction. In order to stop smoking cigarettes, you must first want to stop smoking.

To kick off your smoking cessation campaign, set a date when you intend to quit smoking for good. Get rid of all cigarettes, lighters, ashtrays and other objects that remind you of smoking. Most of all, steer clear of people who smoke since they can break your resolve.

Sometimes self-discipline alone is not enough to control the craving to smoke. It is best to combine this method with the other four methods: medications, hypnotherapy, acupuncture and counseling.

Medications

You can help fight off the urge to smoke with nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and prescription medications.

NRT supplies your body with the nicotine that you get from cigarettes. It allows you to reduce the amount of nicotine that you take in day by day, until your body stops depending on the substance.

NRT medications can be bought over the counter at your local drugstore. They are available as skin patches, chewing gum, inhalers, or lozenges.

In some instances, physicians will recommend that you take bupropion pills or varenicline tartrate pills together with NRT. These prescription medications help contain your cigarette cravings without supplying your body with nicotine.

Hypnotherapy

Through hypnotherapy, you can program your subconscious mind to remove the desire to smoke. Talk to a professional hypnotherapist to know if this method is right for you. The hypnotherapist can help you explore your inner self by bringing you into a deep, relaxing trance.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture can also help you cut down on the number of cigarettes that you smoke daily until you are finally able to stop. The treatment is done by inserting needles at certain pressure points on your ears, wrists and hands. If skillfully administered, the treatment is painless. Many ex-smokers find acupuncture very effective in reducing smoking withdrawal symptoms.

Support & Counseling

To boost your resolve to quit smoking, join a support group or get professional counseling. You can also seek support from your family and friends. Quitting is hard but with the help and support of concerned people, you can find the strength to break the habit.

Never give up if your plan to quit smoking cigarettes fails. Quitting gets easier with every attempt! Many reformed smokers do not stop smoking with their first try. A lot try to quit over half a dozen times before finally succeeding. With persistence, you can achieve your goal to be a nonsmoker.
