E Cigarette

Post date: April 10, 2010

The E Cigarette is the idea of the decade for smokers struggling to quit and need an alternative for tobacco. When it comes right down to it, one of the best things you can do for your family and your health is remove smoking from your lifestyle. If you can’t do it by kicking the habit altogether, then maybe you just need a new approach.

Even if you have no intention of quitting, there are numerous reasons to check out the electronic cigarette. Who wants to go out to a restaurant or a bar these days and hang outside just to smoke? When you’re socializing with friends or sharing a meal with loved ones you don’t want to have to excuse yourself and walk out into the elements. You also don’t want to sit there waiting for everyone to finish so you can light up.

Since smoking has become such an anti-social element on our society more and more establishments are prohibiting the use of traditional cigarettes. Some places ban smoking anywhere on the property. This means that if you want to light up you have to actually take yourself out to the street rather than merely walking outside. Since the smokeless variety allows you to light up where you are, there is no need for the long trek to the curb.

Of course, electronic cigarettes will also help you save money. The price of tobacco is quite frankly becoming insane. Some areas are charging more than 7 dollars for one pack. The electronic version is cheaper over the long haul because you simply need to recharge and refill.

It’s not a complicated process to use the electronic version. When you bring it home you simply charge it up and then fill it up. Your kit will come with everything you need including the battery and the vaporizing unit known as the atomizer. You still go through the same motions as a regular cigarette you just have vapor instead of smoke.

Since there’s no fire involved, it’s safer and much more convenient. You inhale a vapor that contains nicotine but doesn’t contain all of the other toxic elements.

For homes that have nonsmokers and children living in them, the flameless cigarette is a great alternative to improve overall health. Asthma and allergies are typically much worse in a smoking environment. Because you are no longer filling the house with the harsh chemicals that are in cigarette smoke you can count on everyone having the opportunity to breathe easier.

Research indicates that one of the main reasons cigarette smoking leads to lung cancer is that the tobacco irritants combine with the toxic chemicals found in smoke and cause a cellular reaction in the lungs. Today’s health experts are looking at the smokeless cigarette as a potential option for eliminating cancer risks for life long smokers. Perhaps there couldn’t be a better time for this invention to be introduced to smokers.

The Short History Of E-Cigarettes – Increasing Popularity Or Attempts to Kill The Competition?

Post date: April 5, 2010

Electronic cigarettes have a short history as they were introduced in 2003 by the SBT Co. Ltd. of Beijing, China. After the first launch, Ruyan developed the electronic products further and introduced electronic cigarettes to the European market at a 2006 Austrian conference. Marketing promotions assigned the name “Electro fag” to electronic cigarettes.

The first electronic smokes were not envisioned as a replacement for tobacco product. The concept was to provide a nicotine delivery system that smokers could use to soothe their need for a “fix” when they were in situations or locales where smoking tobacco was unacceptable. Marketers trying to sell electronic cigarettes quickly began advertising te products as a way to quit the tobacco habit. This did not gain approval from the e-cig manufacturers and was quickly condemned by the World Health Organization. The safety of electronic cigarettes had not been thoroughly tested and the WHO claimed there was no proof as yet of any benefits to users.

Some smokers consider e-cigarettes to be a hobby but not a habit. Gathering online in forums, electronic smokers who refer to themselves as “vapers” argue the merits of one e-liquid over another, offer advice on the best electronic cigarettes and discuss vapor volume endlessly.

Early e-cigarette designs parroted the image of tobacco smokes. In time, new designs were added as smoking electronically came into its own. Now buyers can choose from a variety of colors stylishly designed and may opt for logos or elegant designs on their e-cigs. Some versions bear little resemblance to traditional cigarettes while others are so closely designed to mimic tobacco products you must look twice to tell the difference. Popularity of e-cigarettes continues to grow.

In 2009, electronic cigarette suppliers formed their own trade association with a goal of providing factual information about electronic cigarettes and correcting misinformation spread by others. The focus is to promote electronic smoking as an alternative to smoking tobacco.

A significant amount of opposition has been aimed at electronic cigarettes by tobacco and pharmaceutical companies and the powerful lobbies that represent them in Washington, D.C. Bowing under pressure from these large corporations, the FDA has issued statements against e-cigarettes and last year imposed a ban on imports of the product from China. Recent court decisions may help counter the FDA’s policies and limit the ability of the lobbies to influence decisions of a government agency.

Misinformation and outright lies have been issued by big tobacco in an attempt to damage the market for e-cigarettes and generate fear in the public. From a distance, it is strange to hear expressions of concern for public health issued by companies that sell the most dangerous product legally available to that public.

The two piece disposable cartridge design is a recent innovation in the electronic cigarette market. After about 400 puffs, which is the equivalent of one pack of cigarettes, the smoker simply unscrews the spent mouthpiece and screws on a new cartridge pre-filled with nicotine solution. No cleaning is needed, no e-liquid is required and changing the cartridge is as easy as opening a cigarette pack.

Though the history of e-cigarettes may be short, the future is very bright for this product. The improvements in user experience and vapor volume combined with factual information is being provided to the buying public. Suppliers hope this will generate a demand for e-cigs that will only increase with time.

How An E-Cigarette Can Improve Your Life

Post date: March 27, 2010

The new E Cigarette has become a “Super Hot Trend”. This comes at just the right time for those of us who smoke. The ever increasing State and local taxes combined with the pain of standing outside for a cigarette break make the E Cigarette an attractive alternative to smoking.

How much will it cost to start using an e cigarette? When you buy your e-cigarette, it will come in what’s called a starter kit. The price of the starter kit can range from $30 to $100 dollars. The price will depend on the number and type of accessories you choose for your kit. You can include different types and quantities of batteries, chargers and cartridges.

A huge plus for the e cigarette is the ability to use it anywhere you like. It produces no smoke or odor just a small amount of water vapor. This means you can use it in all of those places that were once considered forbidden to smokers. Bars, restaurants and nightclubs are now open season for the ecig user. Add to this your clothes, house and car will no longer smell like smoke and you it is hard to resist.

Now comes the biggest benefit. Money. My savings may not be typical but I began saving the first day I used the e-cigarette. I used to smoke two packs a day. Three weeks later, I only smoke 3-4 cigarettes daily. Instead, I use one or two ecig cartridges that cost about $2. Compared to $10 a day for cigarettes and you can see the savings.

Finally, there is the cleanliness of the e cigarette. No more ashes, butts or ashtrays to deal with. No more emptying ashtrays or worrying about smoldering butts. You don’t even have to carry a lighter anymore making the ecig a true winner!

The Most Important Facts For You Concerning The E-cig

Post date: March 18, 2010

After seeing the brand new e-cig or electric cigarette, I was pleasantly surprised at its ease of use. In every way, this little power-house looks and feels like the real deal. As a final touch, the have added a glowing LED to the end of it that looks like a burning cigarette. But the biggest advantage I have found is that I can again enjoy a cigarette any place I like. there are no longer any “No Smoking” zones for me.

The ecig holds a replaceable cartridge of liquid or “e-juice”. The liquid is made of propylene glycol and has minute amounts of nicotine and/or flavor added. The nicotine comes in various strengths for those trying to quit smoking. You just gradually decrease the nicotine strength of the e-liquid you use. It is very easy to quit smoking with this gradual step down method. You can get cartridges with only nicotine, nicotine with flavor added or just plain flavor. There are many flavors to choose from like Strawberry, Chocolate, Watermelon, Coconut, Pepsi, Red Bull & Whiskey just to name a few. The flavors are really tasty and really cheap. A full cartridge is equal to about 15 cigarettes. Of course this depends on the type of smoker you are and the model of ecig you choose

The e-cig is controlled by an internal micro electronic system that is powered by a tiny battery. The system use a precision atomizer to vaporize a minute amount of e-liquid for inhalation. Atomizers generally last 1 to 2 years depending on the user and how well it is maintained. The rechargeable lithium ion battery last about 2-3 days on a full charge. It will last longer if you don’t use it much. A typical user will get about 1 to 2 years out of a battery before it need replacing. The battery can be recharged many ways including USB adapters, car and wall chargers.

People who use electronic cigarettes say that they smoke far fewer cigarettes and some even say they have quit smoking. Currently there are no studies showing this to be true. Even if they don’t curb the urge to smoke, the fact that they are odorless and can be used anywhere smoking is banned is reason enough to take a look at them. They are great for the guy whose wife makes him stand outside in the rain and snow to get his nicotine fix.

Lastly but definitely not the least is the ecigs ability to aid in weight loss. There are so many benefits to this new device that it is hard to believe weight loss is yet another. The weight loss is generally reported by new ecig users. We already know that there are stimulant and appetite control properties associated with nicotine. If you feel the urge to eat, take a hit off your e-cig and put those hunger pangs to rest for a few hours.

Electronic Cigarette Association: Protecting Consumers And E-cig Suppliers By Replacing Misinformation With Real Facts

Post date: March 1, 2010

In 2009 a new trade association was created. The Electronic Cigarette Association was formed to speak for an industry under attack by big tobacco, pharmaceuticals and even the FDA. Funded by the industry and through donations, the focus of the ECA is on public relations and on providing accurate information about e-cigs to combat myths spread by big businesses protecting their bottom line. The e-cigarette industry is composed of e-cig producers, distributors and retailers.

Providing a collective voice for e-cigarette providers is the mission of the ECA. This is done by making tools available to policy makers, opinion leaders and the media throughout the country. The aim is to provide standards that are industry-wide that will education and reassure the public through a code of conduct for the use and safety of electronic cigarettes.

E-cigs were first introduced to the marketplace in 2003 and since that time have been repeatedly attacked on all sides by big pharma and big tobacco. The lobbyists from those industries have spent millions attempting to influence legislators to ban or restrict the production of the electronic alternative to tobacco. Bowing to the pressure of these powerful lobbies, the FDA conducted a limited test of electronic cigs and published their findings as if they had accomplished a true scientific review. The ECA works to combat the myths and misinformation spread by tobacco and pharmaceutical giants who are fighting to keep their market share.

The ECA states its focus as offering electronic cigarettes as a safe and inexpensive alternative to tobacco products. Users are encourage to share their stories and to make their voices heard by their Congressional representatives.

When a new and innovative product is introduced it is not unusual for competitors to spread false information. Although smoking tobacco products was accepted by our society for decades the serious health consequences of smoking have only been proven in the past few years. It was common for smoking to be linked to sophisticated lifestyles with an emphasis on macho men and glamorous women with tobacco smoke curling from their fingers.

The full extent of additives and compounds contained in tobacco products is now fully recognized for the health hazards posed to the public. Smoking tobacco is no longer an acceptable habit in public and smokers are often ostracized. Government buildings are non-smoking, business premises have non-smoking signs and those signs are spreading to restaurants, bars, theaters and everywhere else the public gathers for entertainment.

Large companies who stand to lose profits and organizations that want smoking banned in any form have condemned e-cigs. Until recently, there was no alternative to tobacco smoking and many people did not understand their addiction until they tried to quit smoking. Electronic cigarettes provide an alternative to tobacco and is under attack both from those who promote smoking and from anti-smoking legislators.

It has been forty years since the U.S. Surgeon General publicly declared the health hazards of smoking tobacco. In that 40 years the FDA has never suggested banning tobacco products or even regulating the ingredients until last year. Yet the FDA has been actively looking for ways to ban or regulate electronic cigarettes since their introduction to the market.

E-Cigarettes Yield A Real Option To Those Suffering From COPD

Post date: February 28, 2010

People with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) suffer from shortness of breath cause by narrowing of the airways. The symptoms are similar to those of asthma sufferers but the narrowed airway is reversible with asthma. COPD becomes progressively worse with time and cannot be reversed.

Smoking is the leading cause of COPD. An inflammatory response in the lungs is triggered when particles and noxious gases are inhaled with cigarette smoke. In the airways, the response is diagnosed as chronic bronchitis. Emphysema is inflammation tht affects the alveoli of the lung with a inflammation that destroys tissues.

Symptoms can worsen suddenly leading to acute episodes of COPD. Pollution in the air or an inflection can quickly lead to an acute episode. Lung function tests are used to diagnose COPD with testing to measure the volume of air and the speed of air flow of the patient.

A person with COPD requires oxygen therapy for the long term. You will often see people in public places who are wearing a bulky oxygen pack around their waist, carrying a small oxygen bottle in a backpack or even wheeling oxygen on a cart as they walk around.

COPD cannot be cured but it is possible to manage the disease in an effort to slow the progress of symptoms and to prevent acute occurrences. Physicians recommend strategies for management that are often prefaced with a demand that the patient stop smoking immediately. Further management tactics include rehabilitation, the use of inhalers as drug therapy and obtaining recommended vaccinations.

Highly addicted tobacco smokers often ignore medical advice to stop smoking after receiving a diagnosis of COPD. They may believe they can’t quit but more often they feel it’s too late to quit as the damage to their lungs has been done. It is sad to see a person irrevocably linked to a tank of oxygen while inhaling yet more toxic tobacco smoke.

The rehabilitation includes sessions of exercise and of breathing steam in an effort to ease the flow of oxygen through the patient’s airway. The suggestions to use nicotine patches or gums are often ignored by those who are addicted to the experience of smoking. The recommendations are not seen as viable alternatives by a person with a habit that includes puffing on a cigarette, inhaling smoke and holding a cigarette in their hand.

A viable alternative for highly addicted tobacco users is the electronic cigarette. With flavor that mimics tobacco without the additives and toxic chemicals associated with tobacco, e-cigs offer the experience of smoking without the risk of further lung damage. There is a product to hold in the hand, vapor to inhale and puffing on the best electronic cigarette is an experience quite similar to smoking tobacco. Clearly, e-cigarettes would eliminate the noxious gases of burning tobacco that cause further lung damage to those with COPD. Reports of benefits in inhaling the vapor of e-cigs by comparing it to steam therapy is only anecdotal and can only be verified through further scientific testing.
