My boyfriend quit smoking weed 2 days ago and he has been acting a little depressed. Is it because he quit?
brittany asked:
He has been more quit and hasn’t really been eating as much as he used to. He is more to himself. It has only been like this for two days so far, so I just want to know if it is because he quit smoking? The reason he quit is to get a job, I did not make him.

It could be. He will adjust in a few more days. People don’t die from quitting weed. It is just uncomfortable.

Let’s hope he starts smoking again once he gets a job.

wow, your going out with a dude who smoked weed. why don’t you AND your boyfriend go get some help.
February 16th, 2009 at 1:09 am
yeah- he’s probably going through withdrawl.

Obviously it is because he quit. Contrary to what people think you can have withdrawal symptoms from quitting weed. My boyfriend went through the same thing for a custody battle. Everything will get better tell him to look at the rewards and benefits in the future from him not smoking.

Weed changes people’s personalities a bit. The eating thing is normal, often when people are high they eat when they are not even hungry. Some people get very talkative when they are high so that could be the same thing. Maybe he was smoking because he was depressed and he used pot to forget about it. No real way to know without asking him. Talk to him about how he feels and make sure he is allright. If he isn’t, try to be there for him as best you can.

Well weed makes most people want to eat, hence the munchies. He is going through withdrawl, and yes marijuana has withdrawl symptoms. Once he gets through the mental addiction of when he usually smokes, why he smokes, etc. then he will be fine. But, weed may be his normal anti-depressant and now that he does not have it he is down again. Amazing enough it has been found that for some people weed mellows them out and helps them. Just wait and see, when you and he know what is going on, you all can then decide what is needed.

Depression is one of the nicotine withdrawal symptoms which should go away as time passes. Good luck!

Hi
Oh yes this is because his body is adjusting back to normal and it will take time for him to feel like his old self depending on how long he has smoked the weed!!!
Been there, done it just stand by him and you will both feel the benefits in time…… Hope this has helped??? GOOD LUCK and WELL DONE to him

How long has he been smoking?
No, he should be his normal self.
i smoke herb as well but when i stop from time to time i can’t eat normal cuz ur never hungry! your system is so used to eating right after you blaze that when you stop smoking you cant eat or you eat less portions or eat like once or twice a day! but everything else is fine i hardly doubt that it was from quiting! and give him like 3 or 4 days he should be his normal self.
for the depressed part its probably a personal thing!
when you smoke weed you just want to realx and listen to music or just daydream. thats the reason why he is so quit. is because it feels wierd in normal life.

The fact that THC is a brain-altering chemical, then yes, I would most likely attribute his mood changes to the lack of chemicals in his body. Give him time. Encourage him to eat and stay healthy, and let him know that even though it’s difficult, he’s doing the best thing. You should be really proud he’s making the change and realizing that he NEEDED to quit in order to get a job and move on with his life. Congrats to him.

Yes most probably, my brother smakes on a daily basis and has tried to give up and one of the things that hit him hard was the depression, he also did not eat much after. He just went back onto it.

IT IS CALLED WITHDRAW AND IT WILL EVENTUALLY SUBSIDE BUT HE IS PROBABLY GOING TO BE THAT WAY FOR A LITTLE WHILE, IT IS NOT PLEASANT FOR HIM OR ANY ONE CLOSE TO HIM BUT IT IS VERY NORMAL HE WILL GET AN APPETITE BACK AND THE SLUGGISH DEPRESSED FEELING SHOULD GO AWAY IN A FEW DAYS TO WEEKS THE TOXIN IS STILL IN HIS SYSTEM AND WILL BE FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 TO 40 DAYS
