I know it’s bad for you and I managed to stop for 10 months, but it’s come back with a vengence. Any suggestions?

Well, I have never had a cigarette in my life, but my friend was trying to quit for ages. She went and go hypnotised and from the moment she walked out she didn’t feel like smoking again. It has been a year now and she doesn’t smoke. I remember she couldn’t go without smoking before, especially when she was stressed which was often. Now, she will actually have a cigarette with her friends at a party every now and again and still not get addicted. It only takes one session and it costs about $150 which may seem a lot but imagine how much you spend in cigarettes. Also those patches are not cheap either. i think it is so worth it.

You just… Stop. Its a mind thing. I smoked for 20+ years, and one day I just stopped. The pull never goes away, I cannot be around anyone actively smoking.. It’s the smell. The chemical nicotine light’s up the pleasure sensors in the back of the brain. You have demonstrated that you can do it, so it will just be those same first two weeks of Tortilla chip eating. *** chewing and random crankiness. Just like the first go round
>:OP JUST STOP
C’mon. you CAN do it besides ((blatant rip from a site credit given lower link)) The damage that has been done to our body by smoking soon starts to heal. Within 12 hours of you quitting smoking, your body will begin to heal itself by replacing the heart and lung cells that have been damaged with new properly functioning cells. This is why smokers often feel “withdrawal symptoms” when they first give up smoking. Feelings of hunger, short temper and restlessness are commonplace and symptomatic of your body’s recovery. This recovery may take effect quite rapidly and continue at a slower rate for years.
So, after a short period of discomfort while your body adjusts to the absence of cigarette toxins which it has become accustomed to, you will start to feel some of the real benefits of your decision to quit smoking. Most ex-smokers soon notice an improvement in taste and smell. Often this is accompanied by increased energy, alertness and a feeling of wellbeing. More puff and improved circulation mean that walking or exercising becomes noticeably easier.
An improvement in blood pressure and oxygen levels and clean lungs mean the ability to resist infection, lessen fatigue and shortness of breath. NOT TO MENTION A GREAT IMPROVEMENT IN YOUR BANK BALANCE.
In time, the risk of heart attack, stroke, lung cancer and other diseases effected by smoking reduce to the normal level of non-smokers.
Good luck!

Go on the patch for at least a month. Do not smoke during this time. You will still be getting the nicotine, but will get used to not holding them and playing with them. Then after about a month, get a prescription for Chantix. You will gradually start taking it while you are still on the patch. After a week or so of that, stop using the patch and just use the Chantix. You will stay on the Chantix for at least 3 months, unless you feel you can get off it and stay smoke free before that. Some stay on it for 6 months or more. Only you can decide when you can quit taking it.
That is how I stopped. Many people start on Chantix while they are still smoking, and that will work, too, but I found that going on the patch was better. I smoked for 55 years and have been smoke free for 19 months.
You have to want to quit, of course. And contrary to what someone said, Chantix is not a gum. It is a pill. Many people have stopped smoking using it.
Good luck and I know you can do it if you make up your mind to. Stay away from smokers and don’t do the things you normally do while smoking.

This is normal, you end up smoking more. Best way is get some “Nicorettes” or some other brand and keep away from anywhere where people smoke. Parties etc, nightclubs. make sure you are in open space and fresh air.
If you like to drink and smoke give up drink, you must break the cycle. Take up some exercise.
These days they have anti smoking clinics or a hotline you can ring.
Watch out for so called friends that smoke who offer you a smoke.
Oh! and you must have “WILLPOWER” you proved that for 10 months, analyse what started you again and learn from it. A heart attack gave me my incentive.
Best of luck.
Remember the words of Mark Twain, ” Giving up smoking is easy, I have done it thousands of times”.

it may be easier to stop with some kind of help. there are many smoking cessation products on the market. choose one you think you can live with. A herbal remedy would be my first choice, but it is an individual choice. the real key is your determination to quit for good. Good Luck!
