I Quit Smoking…is It Normal To Experience Chest Tightness And Slight Pain?

I quit smoking a few weeks ago, and lately I’ve been experiencing some tightness in my chest and it is quite uncomfortable. I was just wondering if this could be attributed to my lungs attempting to heal themselves, or whether I should be concerned. You answers are much appreciated, thank you.

It’s normal and will pass. I had the same thing. Also I frequently dreamed of smoking and would wake up at night feeling like I couldn’t breath. After a while your lungs will feel better and thank you for not smoking. Keep up the good work.

If anything, your lungs are trying to adjust to not smoking anymore. No matter the problems, don’t go back to smoking. That won’t help.

Your body is clearing out the residue from the cigarettes. This can be an uncomfortable process as more deeply rooted chunks work their way out. When chunks are dislodged, it exposes damaged lung which must be scarred and healed. It will get better, don’t give up. If you are concerned, see your doctor.

Yeah mine was like this also I coughed up some pretty gross stuff! If it gets worse see a doctor but more than likely it will go away soon! Good job!
