How Do You Help Or Encourage A Person To Quit Smoking That Has Been Smoking Since The Age Of 16?
A friend of mine has been smoking since the age of 16 until now. I’ve been trying to get him to stop smoking, but he wont listen to any of it. For example, he’s been smoking for a week but when the weekend comes and he’s out of cigarettes and haven’t been smoking. He will go crazy and think a lot of negatives thing. I want to help him but I just simply don’t know how to. Please give me some advice,

It’s obvious he doesn’t want to. So anything you or anyone else says, won’t matter. He has to at least want to try. If he is willing to try, then you can help all you want, and maybe he’ll listen. Until then, save your breath.

Stop trying. He will quit only when he is ready to quit. You can get as much information you can find about the various products on the market to help him quit smoking. He has to want help to quit and it appears he doesn’t believe he needs to quit. Tell him it is always difficult to quit, but can be done with help.
My father smoked for over 40 years and managed to quit.
Best of Luck

You can’t ever get someone to quit smoking when they don’s want to quit. The most you can do is tell him you won’t be around him if he’s smoking. I think that’s fair. I’m not saying this to be mean, but he probably already has a mother.

If he doesn’t want to stop, you can’t convince him. What you have to do is wait for him to get to the point where he’s fed up with it and wants to stop himself. That’s the time to offer your support.

It’s important to understand the nicotine addiction process. Only then are you prepared to deal with it.
Knowledge is power but you need to make the decision to quit and then have the resolve to stick to your decision.

He does have to want to quit first.
I did compile a series of quit smoking videos. Perhaps you can persuade him at least to watch all of these.http://www.promiseaid.com/promises/quits…
