When Will I Start Coughing Up Phlegm After I Stop Smoking?
I have been smoking 20 years and I quit exactly 7 days ago. I am feeling great, but I was wondering: will I cough up anything? I have been told that most people do when they quit. That it is a form of “cleansing”. When can I expect to start this dreaded process??

Usually takes a fews weeks for congestion and a cough to set in – they say it is all about the body starting to heal itself – i.e. better lung capacity, more oxygen level, etc.
Congratulations – I am going to go through the process as well…..I know it won’t be easy – but nothing worth doing is

When I was smoking, I coughed up stuff every day! It was a nuisance, because every time I was on the phone, I had to stop and cough several times.
When I quit smoking, I stopped coughing within the first couple of weeks! Now I have been smoke free for 14 months today!
And I am saving $196 a month.
