How Can I Convince My Husband To Stop Smoking.?
He does smoke outside – thankfully. But he is 27 and has developed a bad cough. We have a 9 month old. And I have had 2 collapsed lungs in the past – I would have thought that that would have been enough to make him stop. He has all the excuses and always seems to say he’ll be giving up but there always seems to be something that comes up to put it off to another time. I’m so feed up!!

Well since you mentioned that he does smoke outside considering there is a 9 month old around that in itself shows that his heart and brains are in the right place. Know this, as I always mention, nobody can tell an alcoholic or a smoker not to, they will definitely continue or more likely do more of what they are already doing (human nature). The best way I’ve found is letting that person be and talking to him nicely, just ask him to take time to himself and think about his smoking and see if there is a good enough reason for him to smoke, Im sure no one comes up with a valid one, only crappy excuses to smoke, so let him figure out and quit on his own. Let him know that you care and there is a little one in the family that he should care about, and ask HIM to decide what’s best for himself and let him be, be without nagging him or showing disregard due to his habit, let him take time out to come to his senses and just hope and pray that he quits by himself. Time will heal and he will realize and do what is right considering he already shows a heart. Take care and god bless you’ll…

Smoking can cause problems with erections – maybe you could mention this? Or you could work out how much money he spends on cigarettes in a certain amount of time, eg 1 month or 6 months or something, and tell him what you could have done with that money. You could refuse to get physically close to him, saying that you hate the smell.
Good luck!

You can’t. He has to want to quit on his own.
