I smoke 1-3 cigarettes a day. I’m deciding to stop because I heard that if you smoke it can make it hard for you to lose weight even if you exercise 5 days a week. Is this true?

Actually, nicotine is a stimulant so it increases your metabolism slightly. However, you’re more likely to stick to your exercise routine if you’re not smoking because it’ll seem easier, so it really depends on how you handle quitting. I’d say if you’re only on 1-3/day you shouldn’t find it tooooo hard to quit, just try to change your routines so that you’re not tempted to smoke (ie drink your coffee somewhere else, have a piece of gum in the car instead of lighting up, etc.)
I was a smoker of similar habits last year. I quit, and now I’m preparing to compete in my first triathlon – life is much better post-smoking!

As far a I know, cigarette are a stimulant ans appetite depressant and the common understanding is people who quit smoking will initially gain weight. Also in Dr. Oz’s book he even suggests nicotine to kick start weight loss I think (but not in smoking form of course!) But I personally quit after only smoking 3 a day and I didn’t gain or lose.

Exercise is just as pivotal as calorie intake when it comes to losing weight, but the one diet that clearly showed results for me was wu-yi tea, it can be seen in the resource box underneath, they have a few free trials left, it was featured in Reader’s Digest and CNN. I lost thrity pounds, it clearly does produce success!

I think there is only so far you can go if you smoke.
If you quit you be much more likely to excel in your exercise and reap much bigger health benefits.
However, when I first quit smoking I put on weight! Try to do something else with your time and not replace your smoking habit with an eating one.
